Built in Auckland,
for Aotearoa.
We built ty.money because the accounting software available to New Zealand businesses and firms was designed for somewhere else. We wanted something that understood how NZ tax actually works — and got better every week.
How ty.money started
The idea for ty.money came out of a conversation with an Auckland accountant who was spending 40% of her time on transaction coding — work she described as "not accounting at all."
The global tools available worked fine in theory, but none of them understood how GST filing actually worked in New Zealand, how Akahu bank feeds mapped to NZ account structures, or how small NZ firms operated day to day.
We spent six months working alongside NZ accountants and business owners before writing a line of production code. The result is a platform that doesn't need configuration to understand NZ tax — because it was designed for it from the start.

Our mission
Make accurate accounting accessible to every New Zealand business — whether you're a sole trader or a multi-entity firm.
We believe that the annual tax scramble, the shoebox of receipts, and the three-hour GST return are all problems that modern software should have solved by now. So we built the solution.
- New Zealand first
- IRD rules, GST rates, and Akahu open banking are built in from day one — not retrofitted.
- AI that understands context
- Our transaction coding engine learns from NZ-specific patterns, not generic global training data.
- Privacy by design
- Your financial data is stored in Auckland. We don't sell data or use it to train third-party models.
- Built with accountants
- Every feature has been tested with NZ accounting practices. We listen and we ship fast.
